Fenerbahçe signed an official 2-year contract with world-famous Portuguese coach José Mourinho at Fenerbahce Ülker Stadium.
During the signing ceremony open to the fans, Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and José Mourinho made speeches together on stage. Mourinho made striking statements during the ceremony, highlighting his excitement about joining the club.
Mourinho’s first statements at Fenerbahce
“Good afternoon. First of all, I want to thank you for your love. I felt the love you showed me from the moment my name was associated with Fenerbahçe. Normally, a coach receives love after achieving victories, but I already felt it.”
“This gives me a great responsibility. I promise you that from now on, I am part of your family. The Fenerbahçe shirt is my skin. Football is a passion, and this is one of the best places to feel this passion.”
“I’m coming to work for Turkish football, for the Turkish Super Lig, but fundamentally I come to work for Fenerbahçe. If I have to raise my voice to defend Fenerbahçe, I will not think twice.”
Mourinho added, “I used to joke and say many times; ‘I am Jose Mourinho.’ In this moment I want to say from now; ‘I am Fenerbahçe coach.’ That’s the way I want to be.”

Following the statements, Mourinho signed a 2-year contract. Afterwards, the audience in the stands was greeted one by one, and photographs were taken.
